Known Symptoms
- Severe eye pain with redness and irritation
- Blurred vision and sensitivity to bright light
- Discharge from the eye and tearing
- White spot visible on the corneal surface
Known Causes
- Bacterial, fungal, viral, or parasitic corneal infection
- Poor contact lens hygiene or overuse of lenses
- Eye trauma or corneal abrasion allowing pathogen entry
- Immunosuppression or preexisting ocular surface diseases
Care
- Maintain strict contact lens hygiene and proper handling
- Avoid using contaminated water or solutions on the eye
- Prompt use of antibiotics, antifungals, or antivirals as prescribed
- Seek immediate medical attention if pain, redness, or vision changes occur
