Known Symptoms

Intense itching, especially at night
Small red bumps, blisters, or burrows
Commonly affects web spaces of fingers, wrists, waist, and genital areas
Rash may spread to other body parts if untreated

Known Causes

Close personal contact with an infected individual
Living in crowded or shared environments
Direct skin-to-skin transmission or shared bedding/clothing

Care

Clinical examination by a healthcare professional
Skin scraping to identify mites if needed
Treatment of all close contacts to prevent reinfestation
Topical scabicides such as permethrin cream
Washing clothes, bedding, and towels in hot water to eliminate mites
Maintain good personal hygiene and avoid close contact until treated
