Care Before the Procedure
- Fast for 6–8 hours as instructed.
- Review medications, allergies, and bleeding history.
- Arrange transportation due to sedation or anesthesia.
- Baseline blood tests and ECG as advised.
Care During the Procedure
- Local anesthesia or sedation at the catheter insertion site.
- Catheter guided through blood vessels to the heart.
- Contrast dye injected to visualize coronary arteries or heart structures.
- Interventions like balloon angioplasty or stent placement may be performed.
Care After the Procedure
- Monitor puncture site for bleeding, bruising, or swelling.
- Rest and avoid strenuous activity for 24–48 hours.
- Take prescribed medications, especially antiplatelets, as directed.
- Attend follow-up appointments and cardiac rehabilitation if recommended.
