Care Before the Procedure
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing to expose the abdomen easily.
- Empty bladder for accurate and comfortable sensor placement.
- Inform the staff of any medications or complications.
- Avoid caffeine or stimulants before the test if advised.
Care During the Procedure
- Remain seated or lying as instructed by the technician.
- Limit movement to prevent sensor displacement during monitoring.
- Communicate any discomfort or contractions felt immediately.
- Relax to ensure accurate fetal heart rate readings.
Care After the Procedure
- Review results with the obstetrician for next steps.
- Follow any recommended interventions or repeat monitoring schedules.
- Resume normal daily activities unless otherwise advised.
- Report any unusual symptoms after the test.
Eligibility
- Pregnant women at risk of fetal distress or growth restriction.
- High-risk pregnancies including preeclampsia, diabetes, or multiple gestations.
- Women experiencing decreased fetal movements or abnormal prenatal findings.
- Laboring women requires continuous monitoring of contractions and fetal heart rate.
