Care Before the Procedure
- Avoid sexual intercourse for at least 24 hours before procedure.
- Do not use tampons, vaginal creams, or douches before examination.
- Inform the clinician about medications, allergies, or bleeding disorders.
- Schedule procedure when not menstruating for accurate cervical assessment.
Care During the Procedure
- Lie still and follow instructions for proper positioning during the procedure.
- Relax and communicate any discomfort to the clinician immediately.
- Allow colposcope-guided cryocautery for precise treatment of the abnormal cells.
- Trust local anesthesia or numbing agents to reduce pain effectively.
Care After the Procedure
- Expect mild vaginal discharge or light cramping for a few days.
- Avoid sexual intercourse, tampons, and swimming for approximately four weeks.
- Take prescribed medications or pain relief as advised by the doctor.
- Attend follow-up Pap smear to confirm complete healing of the cervical tissue.
Eligibility
- Women with abnormal Pap smear results requiring further evaluation and treatment of cervical abnormalities.
- Individuals with precancerous cervical lesions identified during colposcopic examination needing cryocautery.
- Patients with persistent HPV infection or cervical dysplasia requiring intervention to prevent cancer.
- Women with history of abnormal bleeding, prior cervical lesions, or repeated abnormal screening results for preventive care.
