Care Before the Procedure
- Inform the doctor about all medications and allergies prior to surgery.
- Keep the wrist clean and free of lotions or creams before the procedure.
- Arrange transportation as anesthesia may prevent driving afterward.
- Avoid eating or drinking as instructed if sedation is planned.
Care During the Procedure
- Procedure performed under local or regional anesthesia for patient comfort.
- Small incision made carefully over radial styloid to access tendon sheath.
- Protect superficial radial nerve branches to prevent nerve injury.
- Maintain sterile technique to reduce risk of infection during surgery.
Care After the Procedure
- Wear a splint as instructed to support the thumb and wrist.
- Perform gentle thumb and wrist exercises as guided by a therapist.
- Monitor incision for redness, swelling, or signs of infection.
- Avoid heavy lifting or repetitive wrist movements until fully healed.
Eligibility
- Patients with persistent radial wrist pain unresponsive to splints or steroid therapy.
- Individuals with swelling and restricted thumb motion affecting daily activities.
- People diagnosed with stenosing tenosynovitis confirmed by clinical evaluation or imaging.
- Patients who require surgical release for symptom relief and functional restoration.
