Care Before the Procedure
- Avoid using eye drops for several hours before the evaluation.
- Remove contact lenses prior to the assessment appointment.
- Inform the doctor about current eye medications or allergies.
- Avoid rubbing your eyes immediately before the examination.
Care During the Procedure
- Follow instructions while drops or dyes are applied to the eyes.
- Sit steadily during slit-lamp examination and gland assessment.
- Keep eyes open when instructed for tear film evaluation.
- Report any discomfort or irritation to the examiner immediately.
Care After the Procedure
- Mild temporary stinging or blurred vision may occur post-exam.
- Avoid touching or rubbing your eyes after dyes are used.
- Resume normal eye care routine as advised by the doctor.
- Follow the prescribed management plan, including lubricants and compresses.

- Individuals experiencing persistent dryness, burning, irritation, or foreign body sensation in the eyes.
- Patients with contact lens intolerance or fluctuating vision due to tear instability.
- People with autoimmune conditions like Sjögren’s syndrome have problems with tear production.
- Patients using long-term topical medications or with ocular surface disease signs.
