Care Before the Procedure
- Complete ENT and ophthalmology evaluation.
- Discuss medications, allergies, and bleeding history.
- Avoid anticoagulants if instructed.
- Follow preoperative fasting and nasal hygiene instructions.
Care During the Procedure
- Performed under local or general anesthesia.
- Endoscope inserted through the nasal cavity to access lacrimal sac.
- New drainage passage created and sometimes stented temporarily.
- Surgical team monitors vitals throughout the procedure.
Care After the Procedure
- Keep nasal passages clean; saline sprays may be advised.
- Avoid nose blowing and strenuous activity initially.
- Use prescribed antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drops as directed.
- Follow-up visits to check stent and healing progress.
Eligibility
- Patients with chronic tearing (epiphora) due to blocked tear ducts.
- Individuals with recurrent dacryocystitis (tear sac infection).
- Those who failed conservative treatments or probing.
- Suitable candidates for minimally invasive nasal surgery.
