Intravitreal Injections (Anti-VEGF, Steroids)
Care Before the Procedure
- Avoid eye makeup or creams on the day of injection.
- Inform the doctor about all medications and allergies.
- Arrange transportation, as vision may be temporarily blurred post-procedure.
- Report any active eye infection or inflammation before the appointment.
Care During the Procedure
- Sit still and follow instructions during topical anaesthesia application.
- Keep eyes open as instructed while the injection is performed.
- Do not rub your eyes during or immediately after the procedure.
- Notify the clinician if experiencing sudden pain or discomfort.
Care After the Procedure
- Mild irritation, redness, or watery eyes may occur temporarily.
- Avoid rubbing your eyes for at least 24 hours post-injection.
- Monitor for severe pain, sudden vision loss, or increasing redness.
- Attend scheduled follow-ups for serial injections as advised.
Eligibility
- Patients with neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration requiring vision preservation or improvement.
- Individuals with diabetic macular oedema causing visual impairment needing anti-VEGF therapy.
- People with retinal vein occlusion with macular swelling affecting central vision.
- Patients with ocular inflammation or retinal vascular disease needing targeted steroid therapy.
