Nasal Packing
Care Before the Procedure
- Inform the doctor about medications (blood thinners) and allergies.
- Avoid nose picking or trauma before the procedure.
- Discuss prior nasal surgeries or conditions.
- Follow instructions on nasal hygiene or anaesthesia if advised.
Care During the Procedure
- Local anaesthesia was applied for comfort.
- The nasal cavity is carefully packed with gauze or a balloon.
- Mild pressure or discomfort may be experienced.
- Follow clinician’s instructions and remain still.
Care After the Procedure
- Keep nasal packing in place as directed.
- Avoid nose blowing or strenuous activity.
- Use prescribed medications such as saline sprays or antibiotics.
- Follow-up for removal of packing and assessment of healing.
