Care Before the Procedure
- Avoid sexual intercourse 24-48 hours prior to the test.
- Refrain from using vaginal medications, douches, or creams before testing.
- Schedule the test when not menstruating for accurate results.
- Inform the doctor about pregnancy or recent cervical procedures.
Care During the Procedure
- Relax and follow instructions during cervical cell collection procedure.
- Minor discomfort may occur; report pain or unusual symptoms immediately.
- Remain still while cytobrush or spatula is gently used.
- Communicate any medical history relevant to cervical or reproductive health.
Care After the Procedure
- Mild spotting or cramping may occur; usually resolves quickly.
- Resume normal activities immediately after the procedure.
- Follow up with healthcare provider based on test results.
- Maintain routine cervical screening as recommended for age and risk.
Eligibility
- Women aged 21 years and older for routine cervical cancer screening as per guidelines.
- Individuals with history of abnormal Pap smear or HPV infection needing regular monitoring.
- Women at higher risk due to multiple sexual partners, immunosuppression, or previous cervical abnormalities.
- Those planning gynecologic follow-up to detect early precancerous changes and prevent cervical cancer.
