Care Before the Procedure
- Avoid smoking or heavy meals a few hours before the test.
- Bring all current medications and discuss with your doctor if inhalers should be used.
- Avoid vigorous exercise just before the test.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing for easy breathing.
Care During the Procedure
- Tests are performed using spirometry, body plethysmography, or gas diffusion methods.
- You may be asked to breathe in and out through a mouthpiece repeatedly.
- Nose clips may be used to ensure proper airflow measurement.
- The procedure is non-invasive and usually lasts 10–15 minutes.
Care After the Procedure
- Resume normal activities immediately.
- Follow-up results will be discussed by your doctor.
- Continue prescribed medications or inhalers as advised.
- Report any dizziness or discomfort experienced during the test to the technician.
