Ultrasound KUB (Kidney, Ureter, Bladder)
Eligibility
- Patients with flank pain, blood in urine, or urinary symptoms.
- Suspected kidney or bladder stones.
- Monitoring kidney cysts, tumours, or obstruction.
- Patients with recurrent urinary tract infections.
- Follow-up for known urinary tract abnormalities or post-surgical evaluation.
Care Before the Procedure
- Drink plenty of water to fill the bladder unless instructed otherwise.
- Avoid heavy meals just before the test.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing for easy access.
- Inform the technician about previous surgeries or medical conditions.
Care During the Procedure
- You will lie on an examination table while the technician applies a gel on the abdomen.
- A transducer (ultrasound probe) is moved over the abdomen to capture images.
- The procedure is painless and usually takes 15–30 minutes.
- You may be asked to change positions for better imaging.
Care After the Procedure
- No special post-test care is needed.
- Resume normal diet and activities immediately.
- Results are reviewed by a radiologist and discussed by your doctor.
- Follow-up imaging may be required if abnormalities are detected.
