Known Symptoms
- Pelvic pain or tenderness in the lower abdominal region.
- Fever and malaise accompanying infection and inflammation.
- Abnormal vaginal discharge with unusual color or odor.
- Pain during intercourse or urination in some patients.
Known Causes
- Sexually transmitted infections including Chlamydia and Gonorrhea.
- Multiple sexual partners increasing exposure to infectious agents.
- Poor genital hygiene facilitating bacterial overgrowth and spread.
- Previous PID or untreated genital infections increasing susceptibility.
Care
- Practice safe sex using condoms consistently and correctly.
- Seek early medical treatment at first signs of infection.
- Treat sexual partners to prevent reinfection or further spread.
- Complete full antibiotic course as prescribed by a physician.
